Through Valleys And Endurance: Through this rugged terrain, we en-route to Igoo Village, our pilot project site to setup a system which will eventually become a source of sustenance, preserving water in the demanding landscape of Leh.
Hiking to the Peak of the Site: Come Prepared
Reaching the top of our project site in Igoo isn’t for the faint-hearted. Every step demands readiness, because here, there’s no room for second chances. This land respects only those who come prepared.
Securing a Reliable Water Source:
Finding a functional source of water that maintains a temperature above 5 degrees in winters is crucial. While navigating the water through pipelines if it drops any lower, it’ll freeze in the pipe before you can blink.
Essential Mechanical Setup: Valves and Actuators
These components work in harmony to ensure efficient management of our water source, adapting swiftly to changing conditions and safeguarding against freezing temperatures.
Smart Adaptations: Sensors for Water Flow Management
Our setup includes advanced (humans) wind sensors, sensor PCBs, and temperature sensors that continuously monitor weather conditions. These components automatically adjust the water flow, ensuring that when the climate is suitable, water can flow freely. Otherwise, if temperatures drop too low, they turn on the drainage mode to prevent freezing within the pipeline.
Side note: Most of these components are build in-house.
PCB Screen in Action: Monitoring
In this image, the PCB screen displays essential data, including water temperature, runtime of the current mode, and the status of the commands issued. This interface is crucial for real-time monitoring, allowing us to ensure that our system is operating as it should.
Harnessing Solar Power: Harmonising Nature and Technology
This image features a solar panel connected to a battery and solar charge controller, powering our entire system sustainably. In the background, you can see a shrine that has stood at the top of the village for generations, symbolising protection and blessings for our project.
Much Ado About Something: Building Ice Reservoir aka
In the grand scheme of things, this endeavour aims to create a robust structure of ice that will provide a vital resource for Igoo. We hope to supply 12-16 million litres of water during tough times, ensuring resilience and sustenance for the community in the face of adversity.
“Aligning with @Cherrysin: Black Hole Training Challenge!”
If you know, you know!
Farewell:
As we wrap up our work at Igoo village site, we bid farewell, grateful for the progress made. Now, we prepare for our next adventure, excited to bring our vision to new landscapes and communities.
